It is with great regret that we inform you of the passing of long time GOBMC member, June Stone. Our condolences go to Robert, Chris and the family.

June Earlene Stone

June 12, 1940 - May 14, 2016

June E. Stone, age 75, of Springfield, Missouri passed away peacefully and without pain at 11:00 a.m. on May 14th, 2016. She was born in Springfield, Missouri on June 12th, 1940 to Earl and Cleo Hampton. She was the loving wife of Robert L. Stone, and mother of three sons, Thomas E. Stone, Douglas A. Stone, and Christopher D. Stone. She worked as a nurse in the 1960's but stayed home to be a mother after her first son was born. She adored all of her family including her nine grandchildren, Andrew, William, Kaitlyn, Sarah, Ryan, Grace, Noah, Jake, and Abby. She was an encouraging and loving woman who endured life's hardships with ease. This constant optimism in life blessed all those who knew her. She was the living definition of the word love.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Robert, their sons Thomas (Rachel) Stone, Douglas (Alicia) Stone, and Christopher (Susan) Stone, nine grandchildren, her twin sister Judy (Jim) Colwell, and sister Betty Atwood, both of Springfield, Missouri.

Visitation with the family will be at King’s Way UMC on Monday, May 23rd from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the chapel. The funeral will be on Tuesday, May 24th at 12:30 p.m. in the chapel with interment following the service in the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery on the edges of Lake Springfield under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. She requested before her death that in lieu of flowers, donations be given in her name to one of her favorite charities: The Diabetes Foundation, The Heart Foundation, The Kidney Foundation, or the Humane Society of Southwest Missouri.
