Post McPherson car show
on: March 3, 2019, 18:27

Hey gang, I just registered for the annual car show at McPherson College in McPherson KS. The show will be on Saturday, May 4th. We will meet up and caravan over on Friday the 3rd, returning Sunday the 5th.
I just registered the E-type https://www.mcpherson.edu/autorestoration/cars-show/. If you register before April 15th, entry is $15, $20 after until deadline of April 30th.
I think Wayne and I will be staying at the Hampton Inn...
Anyone wanting to go with us, and I highly recommend you do, we will get together the week before to discuss time and place to meet for the drive over. It's a great show, with lots of things you won't see elsewhere, along with a tour of the auto restoration facility (which our club donates to).
Donald Osborne, car appraisal guru (seen on Jay Leno's Garage) will be the featured guest.

Turns out we will stay the the Fairfield Inn in McPherson; the Holiday Inn Express we stayed in before was booked solid. Wayne said the Fairfield only had about 5 rooms left... (620) 504-5353

Anyone who plans on going, contact me via email (waltlights@yahoo.com) so we can work out a schedule for leaving that suits everyone. I will have the new car club walkie talkies with earpieces, so can all communicate on the drive for pit stops, etc.
Looking forward to it!

As of today, it looks like just Wayne and I are going, but I would hope someone else would... It's about 6 hours; we are leaving at noon Friday from Wayne's shop. Email me if you are interested!

Well, Wayne and I went through quite the storm Friday afternoon; rained hard from Carthage to Parsons KS. After that no more rain for the weekend. Both the TR3 and the E-type performed flawlessly for the 700 mile round trip! The show was great, of course. It started with Donald Osborne singing the National Anthem (he is an opera singer, after all). There was the usual great mix of cars, bikes, and tractors, with something for every taste. The students putting together the Model T (A?) took all of 6:29, which tied the existing record. I was able to connect with Dylan Ryley, the student from our area that we help with scholarship money. I also had a nice visit with Amanda Guiterrez, the VP over the auto restoration program. Sunday's drive back was perfect, not much traffic and great weather. Hopefully more folks will want to go next year!
