Post Branson Auction update
on: April 17, 2016, 17:01

Hey gang; I worked the Branson Collector Car auction this past weekend; just wanted to give some info on things.
The biggie of course was "De Plane" from Fantasty Island TV show, sold for $275,000. Owner Mark Trimble (some of you long time club members have been to his shop in Hollister) had the reserve at 300 K, but needed to let is go.
I was part of the crew that got it from Lake Taneycomo (it's an amphib in case you don't remember), through the landing south parking lot, up the road to the railroad crossing, across the tracks! (42' wingspan through about 32' of clearance), up the road, down another road, many times missing light poles by less than 2". Took about 6 hours total. Not sure how it's going back...
Anyway, car wise: There were several MGB's there 74 Chrome bumper; not sure what it sold for (hard to hear where I was working); A nice 65 from one of our Fayetteville friends went for 9,100 (his reserve was 11K); a clean 76 with hardtop from Topeka sold for $4,700; Kent Prathers 64 pull handle with factory O/D sold for $8,250(reserve 13K).
Other makes: 97 Jag XJ6 VDP (had a club decal on it?) N/R at $3,800(well sold); 73 V-12 E-type sold for $27,000;
Pat Joyce's 70 E-type OTS sold for $78,500(great car; fair price); Kent Prather's 65 Jag S-type sold for $5,500(fair price for a driver with a lot of needs); 54 MG TF sold for $23,500(fair price); 65 Land Rover Pick up sold for $13,750(nice paint, but scruffy; still seems like a good deal); a 79 Spitfire sold for $3,000(fair deal); 64 TR4 was no sale at $18,750(perfect car; I heard it sold post sale); a 55 TR2 was no sale at $23,500(another perfect car from Mark Cannady in Topeka; I heard this one sold post sale as well): Jim Cox's 50 Jag MK V drophead sold post sale, so I don't know what the price was(another stunning car); a 57 TR3 sold for $20,500(fair price).
Sometime soon they should have all the results on their website(bransonauction.com). Remember the prices listed for sold cars will include the 10% buyers premium
