Post VALVE ADJUSTMENT

IAM HAVING TROUBLE ADJUSTING THE ROCKER ARMS. I LOOSENED THE LOCK NUT BUT THE ADUSTING SCREW WILL NOT TURN IN EITHER DIRECTION. I PUT A GOOD AMOUNT OF FORCE ON THE SCREW WITH THE SCREW DRIVER BUT DIDN'T WANT TO OVER DO IT AND DAMAGE THE SCREW HEAD.

WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?

Not much to do wrong there ,Dan. Threaded adjuster is not normally locked in place by anything other than the nut. Don't suppose the rocker you are trying to adjust is still preloaded heavily by the valve spring? Damage to threads in rocker or on adjuster only answer that comes to mind. What engine is it on? Dan

The engine is a 1275. There is no preload on the rocker, I had slightly over .010 clearance at the valve stem. I didn't try to adjust an other rocker so it may be an isolated incident.

Interesting. Try some others and see if they are similar. Perhaps some DPO thought Loctite was needed on the adjusters? That would be a mess to straighten out.

I put HL rollers on mine. Pretty sure the stock rocker arm assembly is in the attic if you need it. Well I should say it's definitely in the attic and I'm pretty sure I might be able to find it. If so your welcome to it.
